ok...then

So I started Sebastian's trainin on trails yesterday.  I just led him down a small trail.  Now keep in mind that the last time I lead him on a trail (last summer) he reared from bein an idiot and his hoof almost came down on my head.  So yesterday I went with a stud chain attached to his halter and lead rope and a crop.  I was ready for his explosions basically.  Maddie and another little girl went with me just for fun but I made them walk up front.  I didn't want them to get hurt "when" he decided to be a freak and we went flyin backwards and sideways.  So here I am all prepared  for a blow up and...nothin...he was really good!  I was a little tense and he looked around but not excessively so.  His head was down he stayed behind me and he didn't prance or try to rush forward.  It was the complete opposite of what I thought was gonna happen!  Even on the way back his demeaner didn't change.  Looks like so far we are on the positive road and he may have a better chance of stayin with me than I thought!

yea maybe not

Ok so last night's lesson was the complete opposite of Monday's.  If he could pull it...he did!  Oh my god it was horrible!  Needless to say I didn't ride.  Christina did.

Well Not What We Expected

So the ride last night with Christina was not what I expected.  Sebastian did perfect! OoO Gasp!  I know right?  Not a single buck.  And he hadn't been ridden in a week and a half.  It was odd.  I still don't know what to think of it.  Maybe he has turned a new leaf since he coliced?  Who knows.  I am not gonna complain.  I just hope that it continues!  I didn't get any pictures however.  I know I'm horrible.  I will try to get some on Friday.  That is the next lesson.  This time with me on him :| yea we will see.

One Word...Crazy

So just as we are comin back from gettin my new horse I get a phone call from Rob.  Sebastian was colicing.  So once we got to Christina's we got him settled real quickly and then I headed to Rose Court to take care of Sebastian.  Rob gave him a shot of Banamine and I got a phone call halfway there that he was doin better.  So I got there and mixed up some gatorade water to try and coerce him to drink and then I headed home.  It had been a long weekend.  Well about 2130 Rob called me again and he was down again.  So again I head out to the barn this time with mom in tow.  I called the vet as I was leavin and she headed out.  We pumped his stomache full of fluids and mineral oil.  Mom and I had to stay over night and check on him ever hour.  He passed his first pile somewhere between 0230 and 0330 and that was the start of weanin him back onto hay.  It was two handfuls every four hours until we could start uppin it.  I didn't get to leave until 1800 that day.  I didn't wanna leave until I was sure we were on the mend. He is finally back on his normal feed and turnout schedule as of this mornin and we are gonna start ridin him again on Monday.

October 2010 Tall Pines Horse Show

So Christina took Sebastian to the Tall Pines Show for trainin.  He did horrible.  She entered him into three classes.  The first class they took second place...it was only her and one other competitor.  The second class they took fifth place...it was her and four other riders.  The last class she had to disqualify herself because he was a danger to the other riders and horses.  Then after all that he decided to break away from the trailer and run around the show grounds like a chicken with his head cut off.  I'm glad I hadn't been there.  I would have torn him a new one.

Somebody's In Trouble

So Christina took Sebastian to the Tall Pines Horse Show this weekend...yea...he did exactly what I thought he was gonna do.  Every class she rode him in he had an explosian which put them in last place in two out of three classes.  The third class she had to disqualify herself because she was worried about the safety of the other horses and riders.  He also broke his lead rope while attached to the trailer and ran around the show grounds at the end of the day.  I completely expected this out of him....it really is ridiculous.  Maybe I should sell him to Christina?  It's been playin in my mind lately.  I don't know.  I really don't want to though because if we could get him to calm down he has such great potential!  UUUGGGHHHH why does he have to be so aggravatin?!

We're Off to See the Wizard!

So the Wizard is actually Christina.  Sebastian is goin back to two more weeks of trainin to get his head back on since he was not continuosly rode by the person I was payin to ride him after he came back from trainin.  While he is in trainin with Christina I will be takin lessons on one of her horses...the goal there is to work on my confidence a little.  She mentioned somethin about a plannin a beach ride so hopfully that pulls through!  I would love to go ridin on the beach again.  Again she would let me ride one of her horses so I don't get killed on Bastian.

Workin on It

So I have started my lessons with Christina.  Sebastian really has changed!  He is doin so good!  Our first lesson was just a walk lesson to get used to each other again and so I can start learnin the little cues that Christina taught to Sebastian.  Our second lesson we started incorporatin the cues at the walk into the trot and worked on the new cues for the walk to trot and trot to walk transitions.  He did REALLY good and was very responsive and we connected real easy in that lesson.  Our third lesson however did not go so good.  I had a brick wall up between me and Sebastian from the beginnin and as I got on and rode he felt it and I knew he felt it and we, well I, started spiralling.  Christina got on him and I realized that he was doin absolutely nothin wrong.  It was all me.  From there the ridin lesson turned into more of a therapy session.  Next lesson will be better thanks to Christina.  It's time to leave behind the negatives behind and work towards a gain.  Thats what I will do from now on!

First Update in FOREVER!

Well everyone knows I left for trainin.  Now I am back.  While I was gone I sent Sebastian for 30 days of professional trainin at Birchwood Farms with Christina.  I tell ya what he is doin sooooo good!  He is really gettin his head down and there is almost no hesitation with his flyin lead changes.  I haven't ridden yet.  I wanna wait until my first lesson with Christina cause I don't wanna undo all the trainin she put on him.  So we will see how he feels undersaddle!
