Fun!

Here is a video that one of my friends made for me!  Ignore the description at the bottom of the video though.  She didn't know that only Sebastian was rescued!  Lol!  Turn the volume up and enjoy!

Gettin There

Slowly but surely Sebastian is startin to come around.  He was gettin more responsive the last time Barb rode him.  Unfortunately that was this past Tuesday night :(  My goal is next year to send him to a professional dressage trainer so that we can start progressin.  I tired of bein at a stand still with him.  It's time he starts "earnin his keep".

Slowly...

Slowly but surely Sebastian is gettin better and more willing to get onto the bit.  We are gonna use Barb's training girth the next time we ride and he is goin back in his trainin fork.  Let's see how he does!

Sebastian is still...well..

Sebastian is still Sebastian.  We have put him on a tendon supplement along with a new joint supplement.  So hopefully that will help his stifle.  We were takin some dressage lessons for a while but managed to lose touch with the trainer.  So we are on the hunt again for a dressage trainer.  One that is reliable.  There is one guy local in the area but I'm not sure how reliable he is.  Anyway, Barbara O'Leary, our new trainer, has been hoppin on him while I lesson on Remmi to try and get him to pay attention.  He really needs a come to Jesus moment again thats for sure.  Anyway, I will update y'all as we go.  Sorry it has been so long.  Life has been crazy and has gotten away from me!

One Last Chance

Ok so Sebastian has gone to a trainer in upstate SC.  This trainer is a natural horsemanship trainer.  I really beleive the issues I am havin with Sebastian is all mental with him.  So I'm really hopin that this trainer can fox his brain.  The good thing is that this trainer doesn't do the normal "you send your horse to me for thirty days of trainin and I'll ride him four days a week".  No he actually puts thirty days of ridin on them.  So Sebastian may be gone for a month and a half to two months.  So thats a good thing.  But I have to admit I miss him.  It was hard watchin him drive off.  I feel guilty at the same time but I know this is whats best.  I don't know what more to do with him after this.  If he comes back and I still don't feel safe ridin him then I am givin him to Christina (my trainer) as long as she still wants him.  So everyone cross your fingers please?  I don't wanna give him away cause he is my baby and I love him.  Fingers crossed.

Another Trail Walk

We went on another trail walk today.  Sebastian didn't do as good as he has been but he did good for the circumstances.  It was windy so I didn't expect to do as good as he had been doin.  Also a lawnmower was bein used across the ditch and Rob came up behind us with the Gator.  The only thing Sebastian did was blow at the mower and move in a half circle so that he could see Rob comin up behind him.  Other than that his head was up and he was a little more tense and looky than normal but still at a level way less than what I though he was gonna do.  He actually had his head down about half the time.  He did pretty good overall.

So here is a dilema...I can send Sebastian to a natural horsemanship trainer in Abbeville, SC for 30 days.  I have talked to the trainer extensively and feel comfortable sending Sebastian there.  But he is gonna charge $650.00 for 30 days and if he needs more trainin after that I can say oh well and take him as he is or I can come up with another $650.00 for another 30 days which really won't be feasible.

OR I can call this Parelli trainer down in FL where they are doin this "Free Horse Training" Program.  Where the training itself is free but not everythin else.  I will have to pay $10.00 a day for the extent of his stay and maintain his farrier needs and vaccination needs.  So I'm lookin at normal board for this area of about $300.00 a month plus farrier and vet.  But I don't know how much the vet and farrier they use charges.  I also don't know if the farrier is an all natural farrier, if so that ain't happenin.  But either way it's cheaper than sendin him to this trainer in SC, by alot.  But they keep Sebastian anywhere from 4 weeks to 6 months, it all depends on how fast he progresses.  I also have to sign over power of attorney so that if medical decisions need to be made then they can, you know what here is the website....it explains it all.  Go to the section for Horse Owners.  http://www.parellinaturalhorsetraining.com/Free-Horse-Training

So do y'all see my dilema?  What do y'all think I should do?  I still need to talk to the people in FL though before I can even start to make a decision.

For Fun

Trail Walk

We went on another trail walk and made things a little more interestin.  As in goin down the head of each trail and headin toward the subdivision and walkin through weeds and trees.  He did pretty good again!  A little tense, a little looky, and a little breathy but not excessively so in any of those areas.  I only had to correct him minorly a couple of times to stay off me.  Other than that all went well.  Here are a lot of pics from today with him.

Hmmmmm....

So I'm gonna try one last thing with Sebastian.  I am thinkin about sending him to a Natural Horsemanship trainer in Abbeville, SC.  This trainer uses alot of Parelli, Chris Cox, Clinton Anderson, etc.  This guy is not cheap so if this doesn't do it then I don't know what will.  We have used three trainers and all different methods.  Natural Horsemanship is the only one we haven't tried yet.  So if I can't ride him when he comes back then thats it.  He will go to Christina and she can have fun with him.  So cross your fingers.
