Rules for Kickin ASS

Rules for kickin' ass . . .

Rules for the Nonmilitary . . .

Make sure you read #13 . . .

Dear Civilians, 'We know that the current state of affairs in our

great nation has many civilians up in arms and excited to join

the military.

For those of you who can't join, you can still lend a hand. Here

are a few of the areas where we would like your assistance:

1. The next time you see any adults talking (or wearing a hat)

during the playing of the National Anthem - kick their ass.

2. When you witness, firsthand, someone burning the American

Flag in protest - kick their ass.

3. Regardless of the rank they held while they served, pay the

highest amount of respect to all veterans. If you see anyone

doing otherwise, quietly pull them aside and explain how

these veterans fought for the very freedom they bask in

every second. Enlighten them on the many sacrifices these

veterans made to make this Nation great. Then hold them

down while a disabled veteran kicks their ass..

4. If you were never in the military, DO NOT pretend that you

were.. Wearing battle dress uniforms (BDUs) or Jungle

Fatigues, telling others that you used to be 'Special Forces,'

Collecting GI Joe memorabilia, might have been okay when

you were seven years old, now, it will only make you look

stupid and get your ass kicked.

5. Next time you come across an *Air Force* member, do not

ask them, 'Do you fly a jet?' Not everyone in the Air Force

is a pilot. Such ignorance deserves an ass-kicking (children

are exempt).

6. If you witness someone calling the *US Coast Guard*

'non-military,' inform them of their mistake - and kick their

ass.

7. Next time Old Glory (the US flag) prances by during a

parade, get on your damn feet and pay homage to her by

placing your hand over your heart. Quietly thank the military

member or veteran lucky enough to be carrying her - of course,

failure to do either of those could earn you a severe ass-kicking..

8. Don't try to discuss politics with a military member or veteran..

We are Americans, and we all bleed the same, regardless of

our party affiliation. Our Chain of Command is to include our

Commander-In-Chief (CinC). The President (for those who

didn't know) is our CinC regardless of political party. We

have no inside track on what happens inside those big

important buildings where all those representatives meet.

All we know is that when those civilian representatives screw

up the situation, they call upon the military to go straighten

it out. If you keep asking us the same stupid questions

repeatedly, you will get your ass kicked.

9.. 'Your mama wears combat boots' never made sense to me -

stop saying it! If she did, she would most likely be a vet and

therefore would kick your ass!

10. Bin Laden and the Taliban are not Communists, so stop

saying 'Let's go kill those Commies!' And stop asking us

where he is! Crystal balls are not standard issue in the military.

That reminds me - if you see anyone calling those damn

psychic phone numbers, let me know, so I can go kick their ass!

11. 'Flyboy' (*Air Force*), 'Jarhead' (*Marines*), 'Grunt' (*Army*),

'Squid' (*Navy*), 'Puddle Jumpers' (*Coast Guard*), etc., are

terms of endearment we use describing each other. Unless

you are a service member or vet, you have not earned the

right to use them. Using them could get your ass kicked.

12. Last, but not least, whether or not you become a member of

the military, support our troops and their families. Every

Thanksgiving and religious holiday that you enjoy with family

and friends, please remember that there are literally thousands

of soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen far from home wishing

they could be with their families. Thank God for our military and

the sacrifices they make every day. Without them, our Country

would get it's ass kicked.

'It's the Veteran, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom

of the press.'

'It's the Veteran, not the poet, who has given us the freedom

of speech.'

'It's the Veteran, not the community organizer, who gives us the

freedom to demonstrate.'

'It's the Military who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the

flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the

protester to burn the flag.'

AND ONE MORE:

13. If you ever see anyone either standing for or singing the

national anthem in Spanish - KICK THEIR ASS.

WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, ONLY BECAUSE

OF THE BRAVE!

IN GOD WE TRUST.

AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

So I would have wrote sooner but so much has gone on! Sunday I went up to Fort Jackson in Columbia for MEPS. By 2:30pm Monday I was sworn in to the Army National Guard! I am officially a Soldier now! Yea I'm so excited! I can't wait to start my career! After that I went home and grabbed a quick bite and met Erin out at the barn to get the trailer (which we were having problems with the breaks on...not good) and everythin ready for our trip. That was at about 6:15 that I left my house to head there and didn't leave the barn until around 9:00/9:30. By that time I had been up since 3:30am and runnin on less than two hours of half sleep and just wanted to go home, take a shower and go my ass to bed. but nooooo...once i left the barn my truck broke down and I had to call my mom and triple A. by the time the tower got there and my mom got me home is was midnight. then i had to get my clothes and everythin packed for today so i didn't get in bed until 12:30am and had to wake up at 6:00am to leave out with Erin today for Tennessee to go look at a horse with her and if she liked him to bring him home. That is where I'm am right now. In my hotel room in Chattanooga. We will go pick up the horse tomorrow mornin and head home! I can't wait to see how he does in his new home!

Well......

Well y'all....I am headin to Columbia for MEPS for the Army National Guard soon.  I am gettin pretty nervous about it.  I don't know why considerin its just one really long physical basically but I'm nervous anyway.  They are puttin me up in a hotel for tonight then the actual MEPS is tomorrow.  They are gonna do all kinds of stuff but I don't know what exactly.  My recruiter is gonna tell me on the way to Columbia.  So by tomorrow night (unless they find somethin that needs to be waivered and I have to go back) I will be an American Soldier...........oh boy......LOL!  I can do this!  I think I will be the first soldier in my family...but I'm not sure.  At least I'm still followin the military path my family has made!  Wish me luck everyone!

Flu Shots

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEN5KGwNGeo

And you people wonder why I refuse to get the flu shot!

Lots of Interestin Stuff *mature audiences only*

So I never watch the Tyra Banks Show but I just so happened to turn on my TV and it was on.  I was gonna turn it when I realized they were talkin about men and their sperm.  LOL!  So of course it peaked my interest and I had to watch it.  Did you know that the testacles have to keep a temperature of 96 to 98 degrees?  One degree higher and it will kill the sperm.  Smoking also effects sperm and reduces the amount of blood flow to their junk!  Marijuana actually makes the sperm "high" and they just "zoom" all over the place!  Cell phones also effect sperm.  It has been proven that men who keep their phones on their belt or in their pocket or close to their junk that 1/3 of their sperm gets killed!  So men start keepin in in your shirt or jacket pocket!  Last but not least...fruit increases they amount and they strength of sperm men produce so make your man eat lots of fruit!!!!!!!  LOL!  Just thought it was interestin!

ahhhh...I Feel Rejuvinated!

I had a much needed horsey day today!  Did nothin but play around all day!  First was the farrier, then lookin at barns for Erin (E3) but I think she is good to go, the feedin.  I tried to surprise my sister by showin up to her lesson today but she cancelled.  So yea that didn't really work.  LOL!

Sunday, October 18, 2009

Soooooo....

Picture yourself, if you will, walking to your horse's pasture to blanket him.  Its in the low 40's and 9:30 at night.  Assume the barn owner is sleeping so you don't want to wake him by shoutin your horses name, but, you don't wanna go lookin in the big dark pasture for your black horse.  So you proceed to kiss and whistle over and over again.  You wait a few seconds.........................

nothin.  So you kiss and whistle again this time quietly calling your horse's name once...............................

nothin.  So you kiss and whistle some more............

then, thanks to the help of a passing car's headlights you see a silouhette moving.  Is it moving away from you or toward you?  You can't tell so you take a tentative step forward.  Then you hear the steady rythym of a horse's hooves poundin on the ground.  It's cantering.  You can count the beats..........

1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3....

but wait........

somethins not right...it sounds like...there's more

sure enough....you hear more than one set of hooves.  They're gettin louder...Louder....LOUDER!!!!  WHERE ARE THEY COMIN FROM?????!!!!!!!!

Now you can see, and you see more than one sillouhette!  In fact you count 4!  Your mind is racin.  You have four horses all canterin towards you.  You remember you locked the gate behind you.  No fast way out...

they're gettin closer....what do you do!  try to unlock the gate?  No time....crawl through the fence what about the blanket?  They're almost on top of you!  You prepare to jump out of the way!  All of a sudden 3 of the 4 horse turn!  And your horse slides to a halt in front of you.  12 inches away, breathin heavy, and........

nuzzlin for his treat!

LOL!  Yep that was me tonight!  Scared the shit out of me!  LOL!  I got his blanket on him though at least!  LOL!  I need to invest in a flashlight.....

Back in the Saddle

Literally!  Finally got back in the saddle today for...god I forget how long.  And we went back to square one but at lease it didn't take as long for him to learn again.  We rode him today without shoes and he actually seemed to do better without them than he does when he has them on so I think I'm gonna keep him barefoot for awhile and see how he does barefoot.  Might as well I've tried everythin else.  He is lookin better actually.  His coat is almost back to normal (minus the winter coat comin in), and and hooves and still lookin good from the last time Ken was out.  Here are some pics of how he is lookin.

So Far So Good!

Well so far Sebastian's hooves havent started crackin or chippin or peelin yet since Ken came out.  Hopefully that is a good sign.  His coat is also gettin darker, softer, and shinier.  His mail, tail, and forelock have still has a way to go.  I got his boots for his hooves in so that we don't have to put shoes on him for awhile.  I am tryin to get out to the barn to get them on him so that I can start riding him and see how he does but somethin keeps comin up and preventin me from doin so.  This is so aggravatin.  I should get out there tomorrow.  So it may turn out to be an interestin day.  Lol!

Farrier Time

Ken Moody came out today.  He recommended that I just leave Sebastian barefoot and ride him in boots until we can get them healed up.  So I will be doin research tonight on them.  Let me know if any of y'all know of any places that might have them on sale or on consignment please!

A Few More

I'm at school and in between classes so I am bored.  I am lovin the weather we are havin right now.  Its nice to be able to sit out in my truck between classes and not have to run my AC so I don't die.  I'm almost ready for it to start coolin off.  Not much though.  Low 70's High 60's would be perfect.  I have turned off the AC in my house for now and have opened all the windows.  Our house is stayin at about 73 which is amazing.  I can guarantee you once the temperature starts droppin I am turnin off the AC permanantly and openin windows and investin in box fans.  I can't wait!

Dakoda is settlin in nice.  He is startin to eat a little more so I'm not as worried.  He didn't take up as much of the bed last night either.  He did step on my stomach early early this mornin.  That is one heavy dog.  LOL!  He has his wellness checkup tomorrow so we will weight him then.  I have to admit...I'm never owned a dog that was over 30 pounds.  This is a first for me.  Anyway here are a few more pics of him.

Nuts I Tell Ya! Everythin Bout My Life is LOCO!

While I was draggin pastures today Sebastian went nuts.  He galloped around and bucked and everythin!  It was real fun to watch!

Dakoda is really startin to settle in here.  He isn't quite eatin the way he should yet but he should in a few days.

Thats all I have to say for tonight!  Later!

Lesson and News

My lesson on Sunday went ok.  I got really frustrated though cause it seemed like Bastian and I just were not on the same page the whole time.  He kept runnin my leg into the fence and everythin.  Finally Holly got on and then things started clickin I think.  I got back on and he seemed to do a good deal better.  He is really startin to move into the frame we want from him.  Hopefully I'll have time to ride him tomorrow so we can work on it.

Now for the news.  I am gettin my new dog today!  He is a male and about 1-3 years old.  I am gettin him from the Goose Creek SPCA.  He is pure white and I think supposed to be a very fluffy dog but he is body clipped right now except for his tail.  That is definately fluffy!  LOL!  The card on his cage said Spitz/Mix but it didn't say what type of Spitz.  I have never heard of this breed before so I got online and did research (y'all know me...wanna know everythin about everythin) and there and mutiple types.  The one I think he might be is the japanese spitz.  Here is a link on them...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_Spitz.  I am gettin him today after school.  I will get pics up as soon as I can of him!  Now I need to come up with a new name for him.  I don't like his name now which is "Adam".  So if anyone has any ideas let me know!

Thanks!

Thanks y'all for givin me some advice on my previous blog!  I will definately look into that supplement and I have heard that the venice terpentine is good also!  The farrier comes out on the ninth so I'll run these by him and see what he thinks!  Sebastian is already wearin steal shoes.  We decided to put those on instead of aluminum last time because they are sturdier and we figured he would not be able to pull them like he did the aluminum.  I wonder why aluminum weakens a horses hoof and if so why do people use them?  Guess its somethin to research when I have the time!  Thanks again everyone!

Any Advice????

Sebastian's hooves are HORRIBLE! He is sound but they just down right suck. I have him on smarthoof from smartpak but it just doesn't seem to be working. I have tried soaking them in peroxide. I have tried kopertox. I have tried about three different topical brush on oils of some sort. I have also tried white lighting. None of it seems to be workin. Is it just cause he is a thoroughbred? Any input? I will welcome anything you have to say!
A redneck was stopped by a game warden in Alabama recently with two ice chests full of fish. He was leavin' a cove well-known for its fishing. The game warden asked the man, 'Do you have a license to catch those fish?''Naw, sir', replied the redneck. 'I ain't got none of them there licenses. You must understand, these here are my pet fish.''Pet fish?''Yeah. Every night, I take these here fish down to the lake and let 'em swim 'round for awhile. Then, when I whistle, they jump right back into these here ice chests and I take 'em home.''That's a bunch of hooey! Fish can't do that.' The redneck looked at the warden for a moment and then said, 'It's the truth Mr. Government Man. I'll show ya. It really works.''O. K.', said the warden. 'I've got to see this!'The redneck poured the fish into the lake and stood and waited. After several minutes, the warden says, 'Well?''Well, what?', says the redneck. The warden says, 'When are you going to call them back?''Call who back?''The FISH', replied the warden!'What fish?', replied the redneck....Moral of the story: We may not be as smart as some city slickers, but we aren't as dumb as some government employees. You can say what you want about the South, but you never hear of anyone retiring and moving north.

Naked Cowboy

The Sheriff in a small town in Texas walks out in the street and sees a blond haired cowboy coming toward him with nothing on but his cowboy hat, his gun and his boots. He arrests him for indecent exposure.
As he is locking him up, he asks “Why in the world are you walking around like this?”

The cowboy says, “Well it’s like this Sheriff ...

“I was in this bar down the road and this pretty little red head asks me to go out to her motor home with her. So I did.

“We go inside and she pulls off her top and asks me to pull off my shirt... So I did.

“Then she pulls off her skirt and asks me to pull off my pants.... So I did.

“Then she pulls off her panties and asks me to pull off my shorts....so I did.

“Then she gets on the bed and looks at me kind of sexy and says, “Now go to town cowboy…”

“And here I am.”

Son of a gun; blonde men do exist!

LONG TIME NO WRITE

Hey y'all! Sorry its been so long! Life has been nothin but crazy! You would think I would get used to it by now. I moved out of my parents house into a town house right between ladson, goose creek, and north charleston. I have been there since the first of August. I like it. I live with two other people soon to be three. I have to admit I can't wait till this lease is up though so that I can get my own place and not have roommates. They are laid back and everything but sometimes they are too laid back and of course I am always doin somethin. I gave Dixie to my parents. When we tried splittin up the three dogs they went berserk! I am gettin a new dog this week sometime. Sebastian has been better but he has also been worse. He and I are takin a break from jumping for awhile. I have decided I really want him to have a good foundation in collection, impulsion, and general training so we are goin to be doin dressage for a good while. Once we have the muscle, control, collection, and impulsion we will go back to jumping but we will continue to do combined training. I am still goin to school for Law Enforcement and Crime Scene Investigation. I am looking for a job to replace Whirlin Waters. If anyone knows of anythin please let me know asap! Especially if it deals with animals! Anyway...I'm gonna eat my lunch before I head into class. I will try to keep this updated better but forgive me if it gets to be a while. My life is a whirlwind!

YAY!!!!

So I can now keep my puppy Dixie at the house! Her and Mariposa are terrorizin each other! I wonder who will give up first...Mariposa has an adantage though. She can get up on the couch...poor Dixie can't. She is too small. Poor thing! LOL! Beaux is wonderin what the hell us lunatics are thinkin bringin ANOTHER puppy into his domain?! LOL!

Joy Baker is comin out to the farm July 6th at 3:30 pm to adjust Sebastian or atleast look at him. I am gettin someone from Sally from Edisto Equine Clinic out to do some blood work and a work up on Sebastian to try and figure out why his coat and hooves are so bad all of a sudden.

Here is a picture of Dixie from today. She was sittin in my truck with the AC runnin sleepin while I was out in the heat feedin horses! LOL!

Finally an Update!

Its been awhile since I've had anythin to post about. But I had Amy Hayek out recently and she said some things about Sebastian that I don't know if I beleive. I am havin Joy Baker come out and give me a second opinion. We had a luau out at the barn this past weekend. There were all kinds of stuff for the horses to look at includin an inflattable pool! It took awhile for me to get Sebastian to trust it but patience won out and he did! He even played with the water a little bit! Too bad my cousin didn't get a pic of it! But here are some others from that day!

Drinkin some Orange Gatorade!

I love me some Gatorade!

Post Show

Well we came back from the Sea Island Horse Show yesterday. I was too tired to write yesterday so I am doin it today. Thursday Erin and I were out at Rose Court at 0730 to body clip Sebastian. She and I both had to leave that day to go to work. She got off of work at 2100 hrs and I got off at 2330 hrs. Then it was back up and at the barn Friday at 0800 hours to bathe Sebastian and get everythin loaded into the trailer. Holly met us at about 1000 hrs and we started haulin. Erin rode with me and we followed Holly. We travelled from Rose Court to Whistle Stop to pick up Jessie and Pickles (Kelly brought Riley later). Once we got everythin and everyone loaded at Whistle Stop it was time to head to Mullet Hall where we unloaded everythin and everyone and got everythin set up. Erin did some schoolin on Sebastian with Holly havin to get on a few times cause he was bein a pain. Once Erin was done she and I decided to leave cause we had other things to do so we headed home. Saturday mornin I was up at 0400 hours. I left my house and went to pick up my friend Mary so she could spend the day with us. We headed to Mullet Hall and got there literally at 0545. Erin and her mom showed up at 0600. No one was even awake. It then occured to me that I was not the one ridin or competein so what the hell was I up so early for? So Mary and I layed down in my truck and went back to sleep until about 0730 then got up and started the day. Erin competed on Sebastian in the Pre-Green Hunter division and took a second and two thirds and the reserve champion for the division! Congrats Erin and Sebastian! After the show day was over we loaded everythin back up and headed on our way. Holly had to go meet her husband for church so Mary and I were on our own on findin Whistle Stop to take Jessie home. Once Jessie and everythin was unloaded there we headed for Rose Court to take Sebastian home. Once that was all said and done Mary and I had to turn around and take the trailer back to Whistle Stop just to turn around and head home. Lots of drivin, very early, very late, and VERY hot weekend. I'm kinda glad its over. Everyone did amazin though and they were all real troopers! People and horses!!!

Pre Show Day!!!

Well Erin and I got the last little bit loaded into the trailer this mornin then bathed Sebastian for the show this weekend! I hauled a horse trailer for the second time today, yesterday bein the first in a lesson. Erin rode with me and I followed Holly to her farm where we loaded Jessie and Pickles on with Sebastian. We then travelled out to Mullet Hall and got everythin settled and worked Sebastian which was interestin to say the least. LOL! It is up at 0400 hours tomorrow mornin. LOL!

Finally!!!!!! Thank You!!!!

Oh thank God! I think we are done with all the bad stuff! Erin is competin on Sebastian in either walk/trot or walk/trot/canter flat only this Saturday. I am takin him mainly to get used to all the chaos of the show grounds. But Erin (E3) put Sebastian in the arena with her horse Emily today and when she took his halter off he started rearin with his legs stretched out completly and cantered/galloped around for a little. LOL! So I guess he is feelin much better which takes a HUGE weight off my shoulders! I can finally breathe again. Breathin is such a nice feelin. LOL! ;)

Almost Done

Holly met me at the barn this mornin and helped me put a diaper wrap on Sebastian's hoof. It looks like the abcess busted we just did the wrap to be on the safe side. We found out though that Sebastian has thrush so I now have to take cate of that. Thats not difficult though. But Sebastian looked completely sound today so looks like we are finally back on track! Thanks everyone for helpin me out!

SSDD

Sebastian is progessively gettin more and more lame on his front left foot. The one that has the abcess. So I am assumin that means its gettin closer to comin to head. I don't know what was up with Sebastian earlier today either. I put him in his stall because the pastures were wet and the vet said to put him in his stall if that happens. When I put him in his stall he reared a couple of times for no reason. Non that I could see anyway. I guess he was just feelin good.

La Da Di Da

Last night I helped Erin (E3) finish feedin a little before I soaked Sebastian's foot. Erin (E3) had put Sebastian in the arena with her mare Emily after they were done eatin. That was before I got there. She said that they were cute together trottin beside each other and once they settled down they grazed together. Thats how they were when I showed up at the barn. Rob got a new lab puppy so while I was meetin Autumn I looked at Sebastian and saw that he was chasin a cat. The poor thing! The cat I mean. LOL! I hollared at Sebastian to leave the cat alone. Like he listened to me! LOL! It was cute though! The new puppy is adorable and Molly (the older dog that has been there forever) doesn't like the new puppy. She tries to stay as far away as possible. All the animals out there are too cute! Anway thats all I got for now. I was postin anyway mainly cause I'm bored. Later!

Saturday, May 23, 2009

Good Day Today! Finally!

I went out to the barn today to take care of Sebastian. He was actually really cute and entertainin today! I get the feelin that things are finally gonna start lookin up for us. I just feel more optimistic! I soaked his foot this mornin and it looks like there is a little bit of a difference so hopefully it will come to head soon! Sebastian did really good just standin in the wash stall with his foot in a bucket of water and epsom salt with his lead rope thrown over his back. He stood there and gave me no problems while I groomed him like that for half an hour! I was really surprised actually! He normally gives me a hard time! I mixed some water and red gatorade together for him, just for the hell of it, and he was soooo funny. He would drink and he liked it so much he would put his muzzle in it so far some of it would go up his nose and he'd jerk his head up and stick his lips in the air! It was too cute! Here are some pics I took of Bastian and me to pass the last ten minutes we had to soak his foot.

Vet Visit

Dr. Miller came out today to do Sebastian's hock injections. He also checked his front left hoof and he thinks that it is an abcess. So I am supposed to soak Sebastian's foot twice a day for thirty minutes until the abcess comes to head and heals. Dr. Miller said that this should take three to five days so hopefully my horse will be back to normal by a weeks time but with my luck here lately I'm not gettin my hopes up. Poor Sebastian was so doped up on sedation that his head practically touched the ground, his bottom lip was droopin, and I had his foot soakin and he didn't even fuss about it. It was very entertainin actually. It made things alot easier havin him on sedatation though I have to admit! Here is a pic of my goofy boy from today!

Thursday, May 21, 2009

Not Again!!!

Are you kiddin me?! Sebastian is now lame on his front left leg. It might be an abcess. You know I am really gettin sick and tired of everythin goin wrong. Can I not have a break? I mean what the bloody hell! I'm really beginnin to wonder if all this is worth it...unfortunatly I'm too stubborn to give up. My emotions and mentality can't take much more of this. Atleast the vet comes out tomorrow for Sebastian's hock injections anyways and he will look at his front leg then.

Back to Ridin

Bastian and I are now back to ridin after havin about two weeks off. We are only allowed to walk and trot but we still found stuff to work on. Today he and I worked on a nice sittin trot pace. I also worked on no stirrup work to strengthen my legs up. He kept actin strange though and I'm gonna just assume its from him bein in a slight amount of pain cause of his hocks. He tried boltin and buckin a few times but I was able to keep him under control. I rode in a dressage saddle for the first time today and OMG it was weird! Holly said it will help my equitation alot though so I will hang in there for a while. It'll just take a little while to get used to.

So I am now the person with a million jobs. Here is what I have to do...
Feed horses out at Entropy Farms-Monday, Wednesday, Friday and alternate between Thursday and Saturday.
Drag pastures out at Rose Court every three to four days.
Work for the Pinto Horse Association Horse Shows one weekend a month.
Full time worker at Whirlin Waters Monday through Friday.
Part time worker at Wild Wings of North Charleston three nights a week.
Full time student takin online courses over the summer.
Ridin lesson once a week.
Compete in as many shows as I can.
Ride Sebastian four days minimum a week.
Clean my parents house as well as cook occasionally.
Not to mention try to find time for a social life and sleepin.
This is my life now. It is gonna suck but I gotta do what I have to inorder to provide for my horse, pay my mom back the money I owe her, and work on movin out of my parents house. LOL! Wish me luck!

Look Around

Holly and I went to Tack & Tow today to look for new saddles for Sebastian. We didn't find one that fits so she is lettin me use her dressage saddle for now. The saddle I have doesn't fit Sebastian anymore now that he has gained so much weight and muscle and it has cause his withers to become sore. So if anyone knows of anyone sellin a 16 inch, brown (preferably), narrow tree, close contact, with high withers saddle please send them my way! I am in desperate need of a saddle. But try to keep it at a reasonable price! With everythin goin on I can't afford it. I can't even afford all of June's board. But please keep and ear and eye out for me! Thanks!

Vet Trip

Well Holly and I took Sebastian to the vet today. It's his hocks. So now I have to do hock injections and everythin. I can start workin Bastian at a walk and trot only for awhile. He is also allowed off stall rest and can now go back in his pasture which I know he will love! I am still goin to take Sebastian to the horse show at the end of the month just to get some mileage on him. We are not goin to compete which will probably be for the best. I am goin to try to take him to as many shows as possible without competin before the Charleston Classic in July. That way I can get him used to the atmosphere and hopefully we will do really good when we compete in the Classic. Anyway thats all I have to report today. Later!

Videos of Sebastian Bein an Idiot

This Is Gettin Old

Tommorow Holly and I will be takin Sebastian and Riley to the vet. I don't know what all the vet will do or say so I'm kinda nervous. Wish us luck though. I just can't help but wonder if a horse can only be lame at the trot. Cause he isn't at the walk and when I let him into the arena to graze he canters/gallops off and continues until he is tired. He even adds in some bucks and everythin. He is gettin so rude also. I'm doin my best at keepin his manners in check but how do you do that when you can't make them work if need be? All I gotta say if Murphey needs to leave me alone! This has been lastin for almost a week now and I'm tired of everythin goin wrong. I hope I have the strength to get through all of this without havin some kind of break down.

Pictures of Holly and Me Fightin With the Lugnuts

OMFG!

Can we say...the worst day ever? Yes I can! Cause I had it today! Holly and Me both! We had to go through today together and I swear we were both about to just curl up in little balls and suck our thumbs! It started with I was supposed to have a ridin lesson today early early early cause she need my help gettin Mary's horses to the vet. Well we get Bastian out of the pasture and he and I are walkin in front of Holly and she decides that we should put him in the round pen cause he still looks off. Sure enough he is still lame. So much for things lookin up. So Holly calls Shambley Equine for me while I'm gettin his stall ready for him to go on stall rest again. They said I could bring him in today. So we went and got Mary's horses and got on the interstate and blew the tread on a tire on the trailer. Great! Perfect! So we cruise down the interstate at a whoppin 20mph until we get to the exit for my barn. Then gettin everythin done inorder to change the damn tire took half the damn day. Needless to say Sebastian now has to wait to go to the vet on Monday. Holly got all the tires replaced and Mary's horses taken care of so we should not have any problems on Monday. Hopefully. I can't beleive this. You know I'm beginnin to wonder why I do all this. Its all so aggravatin and things very rarely go right or smooth. Why do I bother? *sigh* I'm sure my horse will remind me soon why I love this crazy world we call horses. He always does but honestly I don't know how much more I can take. I need a break. It seems like its never goin to end. I don't have the finances to support all of this all of a sudden either. Just wish me luck for Monday. Hopefully its nothin too bad. Looks like I'm not gonna have a sound horse for awhile though. If anyone has any ideas, advice, words of wisdom, or anythin?

Things Are Startin To Look Up

I think we are almost done with the healin process with Sebastian's cuts. Two of the three are completely healed and the third one is almost healed. As far as I can tell he is not lame any more either. His manners however are startin to get slack so we are workin on those again. I also walked him along the road with cars goin by today and he did perfect! He paid absolutley no attention to them. So each day we will start walkin further and further up the road and get close to the road as opposed to stayin on the opposite side of the ditch. Then eventually we will do it in tack then under saddle.

Barn Jobs?

I am goin to be lookin for a full time barn job around the month of September so if I could put on you guys to start gettin my name out there to barns and everythin I would highly appreciate it.

Definately Feelin Full of Himself!!!

Well at least Sebastian is feelin better! LOL!

Definately Need Help

Oh boy oh boy oh boy. I'm in trouble. Why does money have to be so hard to come by? ugh! Ok...so I was supposed to work the Pinto Horse Show on the ninth. Well that mornin I woke up at 0400 hours and got sick so I couldn't go. So I lost a hundred dollars that I had put in my budget. Not only that but I had to pay a butt load of money to get tags and registration for my truck I bought as well as pay the property taxes on it. That was one hundred and forty five dollars total. Then mother's day stuff. Not to mention to unexpected strangels vaccination and Sebastian throwin his shoes, comin up lame, and slicin himself up I had to buy all kinds of stuff for that. So many un-planned things has happened this month that it has really put me in a hole big time. As it is I am goin to be one hundred dollars short for June's board and I have the vet comin out to give Sebastian his fall vaccinations. I've had to cancel takin Bastian to the beach already cause I can't afford that on top of everythin. I'm screwed to say the least. Any one have any ideas? :(

Here We Go Again

Well I was supposed to have a lesson today. Fifteen minutes into it we had to stop becuase Sebastian all of a sudden came up lame. There was no heat and no swellin so we don't know what is goin on. So he is on stall rest for a few days which he is gonna hate but it needs to be done. This is gettin to be ridiculous. In three weeks he has thrown a shoe and sliced himself up, thrown his other shoe, and gone lame. I don't know whats goin on but its startin to drive me crazy! People always say that bad things happen in three's so hopefully my three with him are done...at least for awhile.

On a lighter note...looks like Sebastian and I are doin the May 30th Sea Islan Horse Show. Erin will be competin on him also so wish us luck! We are also hopin to take him to Seabrook to do some trainin with him on the beach. I am only goin with plans to do ground work but if he get on and ride I wont complain either! Don't worry when one of us is not workin with him then the other will play photographer! So expect pictures! Wish us luck with everything!

Farrier time...Oh boy.

It was time for Ken Moody again today! Good timin too cause obviously Sebastian threw the opposite shoe from last time sometime yesterday or this mornin. I swear this horse is either gonna be the death of me or of my wallet...one of the two! Lol! We cannot figure out why or how he keeps pullin off his shoes. There is no logical way. Ken, Rob, and I tried to figure it out but no luck. Oh well guess we will figure it out eventually if he keeps throwin them which I hope he don't. Ken wants me to buy Sebastian a hoof supplement now cause his hooves are gettin brittle. I also need to get Black-as-Night for his coat. Oh boy...I need a better job. Ugh! HELP! LOL!

Pictures!!!

Erin came out and rode today and lunged Sebastian in side reins. He actually did really good! She also took him out on the trails today. He has only been hand walked on them once before. I walked along as a ground reinforcement. She made him go threw puddles and everything! He did really good today! I had to do very little reinforcement on the trails! But here are a few pics!

Lesson Time!!!

Yesterday Sebastian and I had a lesson. Since we still didn't want to push him becuase of his injuries we only did flat work. Holly worked on me trustin him more and actually made me canter around without any reins and my hands above my head! It was actually really fun! But we need better leg steering power! LOL! We were all over the arena! Sebastian also thinks that Holly is break spot! LOL! While I still didn't quite have my reins he went to her and stop from the canter suddenly. It was kinda funny. Gotta work on that I think. LOL! Holly got on after my lesson to do some trainin on him in flyin lead changes. He didn't get it even once this time. I don't know if he was bein stubborn or if he forgot in one week what a flyin change is. Oh well...I have homework to work on this week to try to get him ready for flyin changes so maybe the next lesson when Holly does a trainin session again!

YAY!!!

Today was the first day of Erin's lease! CONGRATS ERIN!!! She rode him today for a while and worked mostly on supplin him up and she also cleaned his wounds out for me today! Thanks! I also started him on a weight gain supplement so hopefully we should be seein the last of his ribs disappear soon! We are also tryin to figure out plans for the Sea Island Horse Show on May 30th so all of us have a lot of work to do before then!

Doin alot better

The swellin around the laceration has gone almost completely down. It is still slightly sensitive to touch. I just keep cleanin it with a betadine scrub then spray a betadine/water solution into and cover it with a topical cream and am giving him bute. He seems to be movin fine on it so I'm not worried about it anymore. In fact Erin is goin to do some light riding on him on Friday and I will have a light riding lesson on Saturday. Overall he seems to be doin better though! I tell ya what though...when I got that phone call from Rob my heart sank! Thank god its over though! Thats about all the news though!

I am almost done with my second semester of college! I have two more exams this week then I'm done. Both of them are tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Doin better

Ken Moody and I were out at Rose Court at 0630 hrs this mornin for him to put Sebastian's shoe back on. He chipped up his hoof pretty bad but Ken said it should be all grown out by the next time he's out which is May 6th. The swellin is down a little bit around his wound and I was able to see that it is not a puncture. Just a bad laceration. I cleaned it out again today and put more betadine and Furazone on it. It is still sensitive to touch which is normal but the heat in it has gone down so I don't think it will get infected. We will have to wait and see though. I also found three more cuts that I hadn't noticed yesterday. One small one on his shoulder, a small one on his hip, and a medium sized one on the inside of his back leg by his buttock area. All of the cuts are on the same side and the shoe that he threw was on the opposite front leg. So goin by history I have come up with an idea as to what happened. When Sebastian rolls I have realized he tends to roll by a fence. So I think he rolled and his hoof got caught on the fence and he freaked out. I think thats where the other cuts came from and I also think that when he got himself untangled he had pulled his shoe off but in the process a couple of the nails snagged him and thats where the laceration came from. Not sure if thats what happened but thats all I can think of. I am goin to the tack shop to buy some Furazone of my own. Rob has been lettin me use his thankfully! Then I have to give Sebastian more Bute this afternoon before I go to school.

On a happier note! I finally got my own truck! She is a Chevy Silverado 2500 Turbo Diesel! She is dark green and has scratches and the finishin is chippin off but that all just gives her character! I love this truck! She rides real smooth and everythin! I'm soooo excited! I'm gonna clean her up then take some pics and post them for y'all to see!

Anyway...gotta study! I got five final exams this week! Wish me luck!

Oh boy...first bad escapade as a first time horse owner.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy! Not good. So Sebastian threw a shoe today. Ken Moody is goin to try to come out tonight but if not he will be out at 0630 hrs tomorrow. But thats not the bad thing. Yeah I know there's more. On the inside of Sebastian's right front leg by the girth area is a rather large puncture/cut wound. It is swollen and hot and it hurts him. He is favorin his leg a little and will only let you touch it just barely. The only thing I can come up with is that he partially pulled his shoe today then layed down and when he got up next he snatched himself with the shoe then the shoe came off the rest of the way. I don't know though. The vet said to just clean it daily and put some topical cream on it and give him bute daily also. She also said that if it starts leakin puss or anythin to call them anytime and they will come out and sedate him and clean it real well and make sure there is nothin in it or that it is not infected. I have never been through this before. I have been around when things happen to horses don't get me wrong but it was never my horse. So this is all new and I feel like I'm in over my head. But I have some great people on my side to help me out! Thanks Edisto Equine Clinic, Rob, Len, Holly, Mom and Dad!

Just Another Post

Well Sebastian hasn't made any friends or enemies in his herd so I guess its kinda a neutral situation right now. LOL! I think his rainrot has cleared up also with this medication he is on. Always a good thing! I didn't get to spend much time with him at all today cause I was too busy but I'm his tomorrow! LOL! I also get my truck tomorrow so expect pictures! YEAH!!! LOL!

Yesterday

Sorry I didn't post yesterday! It was absolute mayhem all day! Anyway I am feelin a little better. I'm at about 85% right now. Yesterday I had a lesson and I was at about 70%. I feel bad for Holly! She was gettin so frustrated with me cause I just was not concentratin and my body wouldn't work with me how I needed it to and it was just a bunch of frustration! Holly had to actually yell at me a couple times becuase things she was sayin just wasn't registerin but in the end it all worked out and we got a flyin lead change out of Sebastian! I also got to move Sebastian from the back pasture (quarintine pasture) up to the front geldin pasture! Everythin went nice and smooth! A couple of the horses chased Sebastian but seein how he is a thoroughbred and trained to race he got away! LOL! It was sooooo cute to watch though! They all accepted him real good into their herd! But I think thats all for now! Later!

Another Day

Well guys I am still sick so once again I didn't get to do anythin with Sebastian :(. I did go out there today to give him his medication and guess who I ran into. Christine from Tuxbury! I worked with her at the last SCPtHA and we got to talkin and realized she knew Sebastian! So I took her out to Sebastian's pasture to say hi to him and everythin! She might be able to get me a job out at Tuxbury but I have two other barn jobs, a regular full time job for the summer, school, housework, and a horse to take care of, not to mention workin the SCPtHA shows, and competin myself so I don't know what kind of schedule I can manage to pull off! LOL! Oh well, she and I will talk and see what can be done! But it turns out I will be workin with her from now on at the SCPtHA shows! Wish me luck on workin out a schedule for all these jobs and everythin I have to do!

BORED!!!

I was bored so I decided to upload some more pics!

UGH!!!

Nevermind on the lesson today. I wound up gettin a real bad cold and could barely get out of bed to go feed the horses this mornin. But they need to eat so I did. But other than that I literally spent twenty minutes out at the barn with Sebastian today. Just long enough to make sure he ate all of his medication. This whole day has kinda been a fog. I don't remember much of anythin and what I do remember its like it was a dream. Hopefully I feel better by tomorrow. I hate not bein able to spend real time with my baby.
Well I wound up havin to cancel my lesson today becuase I am sick. I went out to the barn for literally 20

Not a Very Good Day

Well all I have to say is I hope Sebastian has a better attitude tomorrow for our lesson. He was a total jerk today. He refused to go in the arena and he kept refusin a crossrail jump! I mean what the hell? It may have had somethin to do with all the wind but he hasn't had any problems for the past month when I ride him while its windy. Maybe it was an off day who knows. I just hope that we have a better ride tomorrow.

CONGRATS!!!

CONGRATULATIONS ERIN AND JOSH ON GETTIN MARRIED!!! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE PICTURES!!!

LOVE!!!

Just a Normal Day

Today was a normal day with Sebastian. He was actin a little weird today but for now I am goin to assume that it is becuase he is not used to how his teeth are now. Holly has me workin on stayin out of his mouth when I ride and today has been the first day I had time to ride since my lesson. I didn't pass the little trainin aids (blue rubberbands) on the reins at all. I also wasn't nervous anymore about givin him so much rein so hopefully by May I can bring Kaisja in to train Sebastian with some dressage! Can't do that until I learn to stay out of him mouth.

Some pics of Sebastian!

Sebastian tryin to get Nicole's Monster.
Nows he's tryin to get my Monster.

The Vet

Well the vet came out today to float Sebastian's teeth and boy did they need it! But they are nice and pretty now so money well spent! The vet said that he should start puttin on a little more weight now since it won't hurt him to eat anymore. I also bought him some antibiotics for his rainrot. We have been at the same stage in the healin process for a few months now so hopefully this will get rid of it! He did so good for the vet overall today! I was so worried that we would have a fight on our hands but Sebastian really surprised me!

First Blog!!!

Hey Y'all!

This is officially the first post on Sebastian's and My life together! So I will catch everyone up in this one!

Sebastian
Sebastian is my six year old 15.3 hand thoroughbred geldin. He is a dark bay but for some reason is a registered black. His show name is Coastal Breeze. I bought him from Holly Waller April 1, 2009 but have been workin with him since October 2008. He is an ex-race horse and I am working on retrainin him as a hunter/jumper. Sebastian LOVES to jump! I am also goin to have Kaisja come and teach Sebastian dressage! I am sooooo excited! He has alot of potential...I can not wait to see how far he he goes!

Karin
My name is Karin and I am 19 years old. I have been ridin horses since I was eight years old and started takin lessons when I was in eigth grade at Heritage Hall Stables. I had a really bad riding accident in August of 2006 that stopped me from riding until September of 2008. At that point I started takin lessons with Holly Waller. She is very understanding and is very patient with me and I appreciate her so much for it.

Well I think thats it! I'll post regularly!
