Woot!

Well Sebastian and I had two lessons last week.  The first one we worked on over positionin the head and gettin him to yeild off my legs.  For havin two weeks of he did pretty good!  We had a moment where he didn't like the deeper sand on one side so he cowhopped straight into the air.  It was kinda fun!  LOL!  But we worked on all of his gaits and his transitions and its really startin to sink in.  In the second lesson again we worked on the same as the first lesson.  He is really startin to keep his head down and in a nice frame and its forcin him to round out his back so I can feel him better and more comfortably and I know he is buildin muscle on his topline now.  We also started puttin him back over a ground pole and worked on gettin him not to rush it at the trot and canter.  We also worked on makin sure I don't get into two-point over it so he will learn also what he needs to do.  It took him once around at the trot to learn not to jump it and after that it was like there wasn't even a ground pole there.  I could keep postin the trot or sittin the canter and barely felt any change what so ever to let on that we had gone over it.  He is doin really good!  I am gonna hate leavin him in five weeks now that we are makin all this progress so fast!  I wanna stay here and continue to work with him but I know I can't and I also know he is in good hands so I have nothin to worry about.

Today the vet comes out.  I want a second opinion on whether we really need to do hock injections or not.  He is also gonna do Bastian's coggins and some of his vaccines.  The rest of the vaccines I am gettin from tractor supply and Shelly said she would administer them to save me some money.  This is gettin really tough what with not havin a job and all.  It really blows.  We will make it by...somehow.

Picture Time!

Or Not...

So I didn't have that lesson today.  It was really windy and I didn't wanna ride him in that cause the only thing that would have happened is we would have fought the whole time and that is just pointless.  That and Shelly was supposed to be at the barn at noon-ish and when 12:30 rolled around I gave up.  Its for the better though cause then she didn't waste her gas gettin out to the barn and home again.  But oh well.  if the weather is nice tomorrow maybe we will ride, in our new saddle :) (thanks mom!!!), tomorrow.

Second Lesson!

Well I have my second lesson with Shelly tomorrow and I'm kinda curious as to how its gonna go.  I haven't ridden him in a week and a half cause of gettin my wisdom teeth removed.  We are definately gonna lunge for a good while tomorrow before we ride.  Wish us luck!  Hopefully I can con a friend into takin pics for me!

The Time Has Come

We all know what time it is!!!  Time for our horse's hair to detach from their bodies and attach to our clothes and our hair and our skin and ulitmately to our vehicles!  This is the one thing about horses I don't like.  Sheddin them out.  LOL!  Good luck to everyone with sheddin horses!

Tryin Real Hard but I Need Help

So I am tryin real hard to get a second horse.  And he isn't just any second horse I really want this horse but he is with New Vocations and I don't wanna risk loosin him while I am in trainin for the military.  So I am tryin to get him before I leave.  LOL!  And I know my mom who is readin this is gettin ready to freak out on me but I really think this is somethin I have to do.  Once i leave I won't have much to worry about financially.  As long as I find a cheap place until I get back and buy my out land I will be fine.  This horse looks to have major potential and I think he would be a good horse for my sister to ride until she gets one of her own.  I'm tryin to keep her busy and out of trouble and offer her money on the side by takin care of my horses so that she can still earn money but can focus on school.  It would be way better for her that way.  And no taxes get taken out!  And she loves it!  Who can ask for more?  But anyway so I figure his adoption fee is $200.00 and so I figure I need to come up with less than $400.00 by April but I want to come up with $400.00 to give me a little play room.  So if anyone knows of any cheap farms (maximum board of $150.00) basically like a back yard kind of place please let me know!  I really wanna do this for myself and my sister and I am hoping this will be the start of my equine career!  If anyone has any work they need done around the house or farm let me know and I will come work for you to come up with the money!  If y'all have any ideas what so ever on how I can come up with $400.00 by April please please please let me know!

Fungus???

Sebastian has had a fungus in his ears since I got him.  They are called Aural Plaques which is a type of flat wort.  The have gotten worse in the past couple of days Rob says.  He can barely get the halter on Bastian and when he does Bastian consitantly shakes his head tryin to get it off.  I called Dr. Banner from Edisto Equine Clinic and she said for me to try and get out there tomorrow to take a look at it and then call them.  So I think I'm gonna be schedulin and appointment with them here real soon.  But does anyone know anythin about these Aural Plaques?

Possible Leasee?

I think I may have found someone to half lease Sebastian!  She is 14 and has been riding for 6 years.  She seems very competent.  She rode Sebastian Thursday night and she fell in love with him (honestly though, who can't?).  Hopefully we will be meetin up again tonight and hopefully her mom will be signing a contract!  Cross your fingers!
